This article talks about how to install qBittorrent app or qBittorrent docker on QNAP NAS step by step, using APP Center or Container Station.

QNAP is a very good home storage device, running 7*24 hours at home all the year round. It’s a waste not to add some new services. This post mainly introduces how to install qBittorrent on QNAP.
There are many ways to install qBittorrent. Bigjeager mainly introduces two methods here: install qBittorrent APP directly from App Center, install qBittorrent docker from Container Station.
Install qBittorrent on QNAP NAS directly from APP CENTER (suitable for novice users)
In APP CENTER, you can search for many official applications published on QNAP STORE. but unfortunately there is no qBittorrent. However, APP CENTER supports third-party APP warehouses. Jeager introduces a most popular third-party warehouse: https://www.qnapclub.eu/en.
- Step #1: Click “settings” icon in APP CENTER
- Setp #2: Select “App Repository” in the settings page
- Setp #3: Add a third-party app repository - url: “https://www.qnapclub.eu/en/repo.xml”, name: “eu”
- Setp #4: Click the new warehouse “eu” on the right-side bar and wait for reloading apps
- Setp #5: Search for “qbittorrent” and install it
Install qBittorrent docker on QNAP NAS from the Container Station (suitable for advanced users)
The docker image of qbittorrent is at linuxserver/qbittorrent. We can directly use “GUI installation” in Container station step by step, or use “docker compose installation”. Jeager recommends “docker compose installation”, because many special parameters cannot be used in “GUI installation”.
- Setp #1: Click “Create Application” in ContainerStation=>Create
- Step #2: Write docker-compose file
version: '3'
networks:
qnet-dhcp-eth0:
external: true
services:
qbittorrent:
image: linuxserver/qbittorrent:latest
container_name: qbittorrent
environment:
- PUID=1000
- PGID=1000
- WEBUI_PORT=80
volumes:
- /share/Multimedia:/downloads #将NAS的/share/Multimedia mount到container的/downloads
- /share/Container/qb:/config
networks:
qnet-dhcp-eth0
restart: unless-stopped
With these settings, IP is dynamically obtained, and the name of the networks can be found at the END of this post.
If you want to use static ip address, please refer to this post.
- Step #3: Get the ip address of qbittorrent inside the docker logs
Enter the container, click “Terminal” at the upper right corner,
In the pop-up box, enter /bin/sh
Enter ifconfig to view the ip address
- Step #4: Open qbittorrent web ui
Default account: admin, default password: adminadmin
